- 2 slices of bread
- 2 slices of cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 cup of tomato soup (canned or homemade)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Skillet
- Spatula
- Pot
- Knife
- Cutting board
Instructions:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
- Add the cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Flip the sandwich carefully and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
- While the sandwich is cooking, heat the tomato soup in a small pot over medium heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally.
- Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the sandwich is done, remove it from the skillet and cut it in half.
- Serve the grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
