Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 cup of tomato soup (canned or homemade)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Skillet
  • Spatula
  • Pot
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Instructions:

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
  • Add the cheese slices on top of the bread in the skillet.
  • Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  • Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Flip the sandwich carefully and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
  • While the sandwich is cooking, heat the tomato soup in a small pot over medium heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally.
  • Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Once the sandwich is done, remove it from the skillet and cut it in half.
  • Serve the grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
